Gardai in Limerick have begun a technical examination of a house in the city as part of their investigation into the murder of gang leader Kieran Keane last Wednesday night.

Mr Keane was shot in the head execution-style in the village of Drombana in an attack believed to be linked to the abduction of two members of a rival gang the previous Thursday.

Gardai have sealed off the house in the Roundwood Estate and will keep it under 24-hour guard while forensic tests are conducted.

Detectives are also conducting house-to-house inquiries in the surrounding area.
