The Government is to spend €11m carrying out essential repairs to the homes of elderly people living on their own, it was announced today.

Announcing the move in Dublin, junior housing minister Noel Ahern said the investment in repairing and improving the homes of older people was a priority for the government and the cash grants demonstrated a commitment to the elderly.
