Irish MP contingent returns from Bosnia
Ireland's last remaining military police contingent in Bosnia is returning home today.
More than 40 men and women have served with the Stabilisation force in Sarajevo for the last six months.
It is the end of a five-year stint during which over 600 Irish MPs have helped police the 5,000-strong multi-national UN force in the former war-torn region.
Commandant Kieran McDaid says it has been a great success for the defence forces.
"The word coming back from the mission for the last five years has been very complimentary of the military police that we have sent out," he said.
"We have been on this mission since June 1997 and this contingent that is coming home today is the 11th that has served there."
