Sargent warns of war consequences for Ireland
The leader of the Green Party says a war in Iraq will have catastrophic consequences for this country.
Trevor Sargent is warning that if the US and UK go to war with Saddam Hussein, transportation costs will rise significantly.
Deputy Sargent said the Irish public will be out on the streets similar to the way the farmers came out last week.
He said: "Our whole industrial base, our agricultural base, our home heating and our general transportation will all get knocked on the head.
"The strikes that we have seen in terms of public transport, the farmer's marching and so forth will pale into insignificance if any of that happens."
