Man claims fear prompted him to admit child rape

A Dublin Circuit Criminal Court jury has heard a man claim he admitted sexually abusing a six-year-old girl because he was frightened in a Garda station and just wanted to get out.

He also told his counsel, Ms Mary Ellen Ring SC, that before leaving the station he signed an agreement saying he was not ill-treated in any way while there, but this wasn't true.
