Mother and daughter killed in crash

A seven-year-old girl and her mother died in a road accident in Co Down in which seven other people were injured.

Three cars were involved in the pile-up on the Comber Road in Newtownards, said police.

The child was killed in the crash last night and her mother died several hours later in hospital. The woman’s two teenage children were among those injured in the accident.

A man travelling alone in a second car and a husband and wife and two young children in a third car were also hurt.
