Gardai make €500,000 ecstasy seizure

Gardai have seized drugs with an estimated street value of €500,000 in Co Wexford this morning.

The seizure took place when a lorry was stopped and searched at Ballinbola, New Ross around 7.40am.

Approximately 50,000 ecstasy tablets were discovered, concealed in cases of wine.

The lorry driver, a man in his late forties, was arrested.

He is now detained at New Ross garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The man can be held for a total of seven days.
