The children's charity, Barnados, is calling on all political parties to make a New Year's pledge to place the interests of young people above publicans.

The organisation says alcohol poses a major risk to the lives of our young population and it is time they were protected. It is calling for a ban to be imposed on alcohol advertising and a specific tax to be introduced on publican's profits.
