NEHB discusses death of premature baby
The North Eastern Health Board is in talks this evening about the death of a premature baby who was born in an ambulance after her mother was turned away from Monaghan Hospital.
Bronagh Livingstone died in Cavan Hospital less than five hours after being born in the ambulance.
Her mother, Denise, was sent from Monaghan to Cavan because the maternity unit in Monaghan was closed down almost two years ago.
An independent review of the scandal said the baby should been delivered in Monaghan because the birth was imminent.
However, two reports commissioned by the NEHB said that transfer to Cavan was the right course of action.
