Mix up at Tralee Maternity hospital

It has emerged that there has been a mix-up at the maternity unit of Tralee General Hospital which resulted in a mother being given the wrong baby.

The mix up occurred on New Year's Day. The South Western Health Board says the infant was only placed with the wrong mother for a minute.

The board has now offered counselling to the mothers involved in the mix up.
