Gardai make arrest in connection with Cork death

Gardai investigating the death of a Dublin woman have arrested a man in his forties.

Jean Scanlon, originally from Dublin, was found dead at the bottom of her stairs in her home in Cork city centre last Friday.

The man being questioned in connection with her death is being held under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardai can hold him for up to 12 hours.

He is being held at Mayfield Garda station.
