The woman whose body was discovered in Cork overnight has been named locally as Jean Scanlon.

The woman whose body was discovered in Cork overnight has been named locally as Jean Scanlon.

Officers are treating the death of the 33-year-old woman, who was originally from Dublin, as suspicious.

Ms Scanlon's body was found at the bottom of a stairwell in Roche's Buildings, Richmond Hill at 12.25am in the city centre.

State Pathologist Dr John Harbison has been informed and is expected at the scene later today.
