Butchers launch campaign to win back business
The Craft Butchers Association has launched a campaign aimed at winning back business it has lost to large retail outlets.
The association said large supermarkets do not provide enough information about their produce and it urged the public to recognise the advantages of buying from local butchers.
Chief executive Pat Brady said: "Most butcher's beef, for example, is local to the area in which it is sold.
"You might well buy something in a supermarket in one part of this country that has been processed 150 miles away and reared 150 miles in a different direction."
