EU report proposes common defence policy

A report submitted to the Convention on the Future of Europe today has recommended sweeping changes to EU defence policy.

The report recommends the creation of mutual defence and solidarity clauses to involve all member states in military activity should one state be attacked.

It also recommends the creation of an EU armaments agency and the funding of military research by the EU.
