McCreevy predicts further increase in cost of living

Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy has told the Dail that, excluding increases in the price of tobacco announced last week, he expects average prices to rise by 4.2% next year.

Last Wednesday, in his budget speech, Mr McCreevy said he expects the inflation rate to be 4.8% next year, more than double the EU average.
