Justice Minister Michael McDowell has said it may now be appropriate to be more selective in terms of the skills and personal characteristics of prospective migrants.

Speaking at a seminar on migration policy, Michael McDowell said the aim now should be to match more closely what each migrant has to offer with the needs of the economy and society.
