Woman injured in Kilkenny house fire

A Kilkenny woman is believed to be in a serious condition in hospital this evening, after a housefire close to the city.

Gardai have sealed off the woman's home.

Shortly before 5pm the fire brigade was called to the scene on the Greenfields road approximately a mile from the City Centre.

On entering the house they found the woman, believed to be in her thirties with what are believed to have been critical injuries.

The fire, which was not serious, was brought quickly under control and the fire brigade removed the woman to nearby St Luke's Hospital.

Neither the Gardai or Hospital are prepared to describe the woman's condition.
