Haulage hit by excise duty

The Irish Road Haulage Association says that today's announcement to increase excise duty on diesel may put some of its members out of business.

Spokesperson Jimmy Quinn is warning that the increase of 3c per litre on diesel fuel will affect the haulage industry.

He says that Mr McCreevy chose to pick on diesel rather than petrol.

Mr Quinn says that this will roughly represent €3,000 extra per vehicle per year.
