Woman are still treated in inferior ways - and inequality will damage the Irish economy, the National Women's Council of Ireland said at a conference today in Dublin.

It says that just 10 counties have now women as TDs while only 13% of Dail members are female.

Grainne Healy of the National Women's Council insists that if inequality continues, it will actually inhibit the Irish economy.

She says that the equal contribution of men and woman in decision making is essential for a democratic society.
