Woman and son injured in Portrush attack

A woman and her son have suffered minor injuries after bricks and a petrol bomb were thrown through the window of their living room in Portrush, Co Antrim, last night.

The attack took place in Glenmanus Park at around 11pm.

The five occupants of the house managed to escape out the back door, but the family dog was killed.

The woman also suffered cuts to her face, while her teenage son suffered cuts to his arm, stomach and hands.

Meanwhile, another man escaped injury after a petrol bomb attack on his home in Belfast's Donegall Road area.

The living room of the house was extensively damaged. It is unclear whether either of the attacks was sectarian or whether the targets were Catholic or Protestant.
