A man is due in court in Northern Ireland today charged with the attempted murder of a police officer and three counts of burglary following a series of ram raids on shops.

A man is due in court in Northern Ireland today charged with the attempted murder of a police officer and three counts of burglary following a series of ram raids on shops.

The 39-year-old man was appearing before magistrates in Newry, Co Down, following his arrest on Monday after a tool hire premises, electrical goods shop and a newsagents in the city were targeted in ram raids between 1am and 3am on the same day.
