Sligo, Dundalk, Letterkenny and the Athlone-Mullingar-Tullamore triangle have been named as so-called 'gateways' in the National Spatial Strategy unveiled by the Government today.

Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford were also named as 'gateways' in the policy document, which aims to distribute investment and development in a balanced way throughout Ireland.
