Officials at St Finbar's Hospital in Cork have launched an investigation into how two babies were given to the wrong mothers.

Both babies were born within hours of each other on Tuesday night, but the mix-up was only noticed yesterday when one mother saw that the tag on her child's wrist contained the wrong number.
