Driving conditions in County Galway and County Mayo have become hazardous during the afternoon.

Many minor roads are flooded with the northern area of Connemara as one of the worst hit areas.

Motorists are having extreme difficulty on the Kilmore to Recess road where rivers in several areas have burst their banks.

Gardai are appealing to motorists to be extremely careful especially when driving on minor roads as high winds have also blown down trees in a number of areas.
