Government pays tribute to Quinn

The Tanaiste, on behalf of the government, has paid tribute to the Labour leader, Ruairi Quinn.

Today is his last official day as leader of the party, after a spell of five years at the helm.

Tanaiste Harney says he has served his party with distinction.

"He has served in various ministries with great distinction, he is an extremely articulate spokesperson, both for his constituents and the Labour party, and he has led the party with great integrity and great honour over the past number of years."
