Beaumont reports 19 more vomiting virus cases

Beaumont Hospital in Dublin has reported 19 new suspected cases of the winter vomiting virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of affected patients to 70.

Seventeen of the hospital's 19 wards are currently affected by the outbreak and restrictions on visiting are still in place.

Hospital authorities have advised the public to contact their GP rather than attend the accident and emergency ward in Beaumont.

Elective surgical and medical procedures are also still postponed until further notice, but outpatient services are continuing as normal.
