NEHB draws up bullying guidelines for teachers
The North-Eastern Health Board has drawn up guidelines to help teachers address the problem of bullying in schools.
The guidelines follow research by the NEHB which found that up to 15% of pupils are bullied in school.
They advise teachers to use confidential questionnaires to identify instances of bullying and to discuss the issues separately and in private with both victims and bullies.
The NEHB said teachers should adopt a problem-solving approach and to be calm and constructive when dealing with the issue of bullying.
