TUI agrees payment deal after two years
The Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) has accepted proposals on pensionability for supervision and substitution payments.
The deal ends two years of negotiations on the issue.
However, the Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland (ASTI) has still not accepted the Government's recommendations, although the issue will feature high on the agenda of the association's special convention taking place tomorrow.
The Irish National Teachers Organisation (INTO) is due to consider the proposals at its executive meeting within the next few weeks.
TUI President, Derek Dunne, said that teachers stand to make around 3% extra from the payments.
"The deal itself is worth €37 an hour essentially and teachers would earn in the order of €1,200 a year and that payment would be pensionable," he said.
