Britain to call for IRA disbandment

The British government is today expected to join the chorus of voices calling on the Provisional IRA to move towards complete disbandment.

British prime minister Tony Blair and the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, have already said that they believe disbandment is the only measure that could restore unionist trust in the peace process.
