Two Irish injured in Bali blasts

Two Irish people are thought to have been injured in the bomb blasts in Bali in which almost 200 people died.

There are no reports of Irish fatalities, according to a Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman.

"Bali is a popular honeymoon spot and many Irish living in Australia pop over there for holidays so there are a lot of names to go through," he said.

"We've had lots of calls though the night with people looking for information. At this stage though, as far as we know, there are no Irish fatalities," he added.

Department of Foreign Affairs officials have been in touch with the families of the injured Irish tourists, who are being cared for in hospital.

Anyone looking for information on Irish relatives or friends in Bali can contact the Department of Foreign Affairs on 01-4780822.
