Ahern reiterates opposition to suspension

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has reiterated the Government’s opposition to the suspension of the North’s political institutions.

The British government is reportedly planning to suspend the Northern Assembly and Executive by next Tuesday, but Mr Ahern said today that Ireland would oppose these plans.
