The man who died at a housefire in Cork this afternoon has been named.

28-year-old Kieran McCarthy died in the fire at Glanmire.

The fire broke out at Brooklodge East shortly before 3am this morning.

The blaze is believed to have started in the kitchen of the house.

Mr McCarthy died at the scene.

Meanwhile, his father was taken to hospital where he was treated for burns.

Gardai are now continuing to examine the scene to find out the exact cause of the fire.
