INO slams health board's decisions
The Irish Nurses Organisation has described the North Eastern Health Board's decisions on Monaghan General Hospital as 'Machiavellian'.
This comes in the wake of proposals by the Health Board and talks with INO members.
Consultants at the hospital have already rejected the proposals.
The INO contends that the implementation of the proposals may mean that Monaghan General Hospital can no longer serve as an acute facility.
Patsy Doyle, INO Industrial Relations Officer said: "This cold, unfeeling avoidance approach by the management of the North Eastern Health Board is more reminiscent of the Machiavellian era than a modern day health service'.
She added: "It is our view that the North Eastern Health Board are making a grave error by not listening to patients and staff.
'We call on the health board to reflect on its policy to sacrifice Monaghan General Hospital as one of its centres of excellence in the region."
