Nuclear cargo docks in Cumbria
A shipload of returned radioactive nuclear fuel from Japan has completed its controversial journey to Cumbria from Japan.
The five ton cargo of Mox pellets, contained in specially designed fuel rods, have spent three years in Japan waiting to be returned to the UK.
A flotilla of environmental protesters greeted the vessels as they approached a docks complex at Barrow in Furness.
Security was at a heightened state with police, the Atomic Energy Authority and British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) saying they are ready for any eventuality - including a terrorist attack.
The cargo is due to arrive by train at Sellafield later this afternoon.
