Preliminary results of a post mortem on the body of a 14-year-old Clonmel youth reveal that he died as the result of a head injury.

The post mortem was carried out yesterday by Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.

Brian Rossiter of Wilderness in Clonmel, died at Cork University Hospital last Friday. A major garda investigation is continuing into an assault on the youth late on Sunday night.

One person has already come forward and made a voluntary statement, but nobody has been charged in connection with the boy’s death.

The investigation will now focus on how the injury was sustained.
