Campaign launched to stamp out underage drinkers
A fresh campaign to stamp out underage drinking in rural Ireland is underway.
Six thousand pubs across the country are being sent posters by the Vintners Association of Ireland in the latest attempt to stop underage drinkers obtaining alcohol.
With the Junior Cert results due out on Wednesday, it is hoped that the campaign will make a difference.
The Vintners Federation of Ireland is urging parents to take extra responsibility for their children, particularly if they are between the ages of 15 and 18, by knowing where they are and their social activities.
All young adults will now have to produce a national identity card when asking for alcohol.
