Irish fans injured in Moscow

Irish fans are reported to have received injuries in Moscow this afternoon as Ireland start their Euro 2004 campaign.

Two fans are now thought to have been injured just before kick off. A confrontation occurred outside a McDonald's restaurant on Tverskaya Avenue, near the Kremlin.

Several dozen soccer supporters were involved in the incident. Moscow police have now reported that most of those injured were non-Russians.

In another incident in Moscow, fighting broke out close to Red Square beside the Rossiya hotel.

Two individuals are reported to have received hospital treatment after the incident.
