Protestors occupy Carrickmines site

A group of protestors have chained themselves to trees over the planned construction of a part of the M50 motorway over a medieval castle.

Protestors are now occupying the ruined castle in Carrickmines in south County Dublin.

Enviromentalists and heritage groups want to see an end to the National Roads Authority covering sections of the ruins.

An Taisce is insisting that all NRA plans for construction on the site would totally fragment the remains of the castle and its surrounding buildings.
