Army bomb disposal experts today defused an incendiary-type device in Belfast.

Three controlled explosions were carried out on a bread van, which had earlier been hijacked in the Glen Road area of west Belfast.

The driver was ordered to abandon the vehicle at a roundabout near the Westlink connecting the M1 motorway with the M2.

Traffic was disrupted for much of the afternoon in the area as security forces dealt with the device.
