Junior Minister Brian Lenihan has defended the Government’s decision to re-run the referendum on the Nice Treaty later this year.

The controversial accord was rejected by 54% of the Irish electorate last year, but Mr Lenihan has insisted that the Government’s decision to re-run the referendum is not an attempt to overturn that vote.
