A Catholic school in north Belfast has been damaged in a sectarian arson attack.

A caretaker at Dominican College in Fortwilliam Park discovered the building alight last night.

Fire crews were called to the scene but the blaze had already caused extensive damage to a storeroom and kitchen. Several other rooms were also badly hit by the flames.

A police spokesman said detectives investigating the fire believed it had all the hallmarks of a sectarian attack.
