Greens appoint Nice campaign director

The Green Party has appointed Dublin mid-west TD Paul Gogarty as director of its ‘no’ campaign for the forthcoming re-run of the Nice referendum.

The party outlined its strategy for the referendum in Dublin today and vowed to distance itself from elements in the ‘no’ campaign which have attempted to bring the issue of immigration into the debate.

Mr Gogarty said suggestions that Ireland will be flooded with Eastern Europeans as a result of EU enlargement are without foundation.
