ISPCC: lessons to be learned from Soham murders

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children has expressed concern at the lack of monitoring facilities of those posing a risk to children.

The warning comes in the wake of the murders of 10-year-old schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham, Cambridgeshire.

Paul Gilligan of the ISPCC says lessons must be learned from the Soham deaths.

Ireland currently falls behind UK standards in terms of vetting procedures.
