Garda assaulted in Cobh

A member of the gardaí was assaulted last night in Cork.

The Gardaí were called to the scene of an altercation involving two men at a Regatta in Cobh at about 11pm last night.

The garda, who was assaulted at the scene by the two men, received cuts to the face and required hospital treatment.

Two men were arrested and are due to appear at a special sitting of Cobh District Court later this morning.
