Man arrested after alleged attempt to abduct Irish woman

Police in the US have arrested a man in connection with an alleged attempt to abduct a 19-year-old Irish woman in the town of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.

The student from Co Louth was allegedly grabbed from behind and knocked to the ground by a man who pulled up near her earlier this week.

The woman suffered injuries to her face, but escaped and identified her alleged assailant from a police photograph.

A man was subsequently arrested and items belonging to another recent attack victim were reportedly recovered.
