Gardai release names of accident victims

Gardaí have released the name of the 27-year-old man who was killed in an accident in Sligo in the early hours of this morning.

He was Mark Rooney from St Joseph's Terrace in Sligo town.

Mr Rooney died after he was hit by a car in the centre of the town shortly 2am.

The 33-year-old woman who was killed in a crash in Mullingar yesterday has been named as Wendy Lynch from Downpatrick in Co Down.

Ms Lynch died when the car which she was driving was involved in a collision with a van in Lynne just outside Mullingar town.
