An armed siege at a house in Derry has ended this evening.

Police surrounded the house on Duncreggan Road earlier today after two men took a pregnant woman, her partner and a young girl hostage at around 1pm.

The siege was apparently connected to a robbery earlier in the day at the Pennyburn Credit Union in the city.

The getaway car used in that robbery rammed two police vehicles before officers opened fire, made one arrest and recovered a sum of money.

The details of how the siege ended are unclear, but police escorted the two men from the house.
