Kerry Group offer to sponsor Jeannie Johnston

The Kerry Group food giant has offered to sponsor the controversial Jeannie Johnston famine ship project.

The plan, designed to prevent the ship from being sold, was put to Kerry County Council today.

The project has already cost €12m.

The Jeannie Johnston needs another €1.5m in funding to realise its original aim of sailing from Ireland to North America.
