FG urge Government to act on Shannon
Fine Gael Transport spokesman Pat Breen has urged the Government to save pre-immigration services to the US at Shannon.
Travellers to the USA could face huge delays at JFK and other American airports because pre immigration clearance facilities in Ireland may be under threat, claimed Deputy Breen.
"Aer Lingus has confirmed that they are considering a proposal to discontinue operating the pre-immigration service at Shannon Airport and there is now a concern that the American Department of Immigration and Naturalisation will end its link with Ireland.
"I have written to the Transport Minister, asking him to intervene and make sure that this facility is not lost to Shannon. The Minister must also stay in contact with his American counterparts in an effort to ensure that the US does not pull out of Ireland completely.
