Ahern denies Govt to blame for FAI deal

The Taoiseach has rejected suggestions that the Government could have protected the tv rights to Irish soccer games through EU legislation.

Bertie Ahern said that if these matches were designated under the Broadcasting Act, it could cause problems for both the sporting organisations and the television channels.
